How to Help Overcome Infertility Stress

If you have been trying to get pregnant unsuccessfully and are now dealing with infertility issues, it can be a very stressful experience.

Stress can wreak havoc with our bodies, so the last thing you need when you are trying to conceive is a lot of stress.

Here are some tips and tricks to help you overcome the stress of infertility:

  • Use honey instead of refined white sugar. Refined white sugar will give you a jolt of energy, which could serve to increase a jittery feeling. It also disturbs your body’s blood-sugar balance and triggers the release of insulin. Too much insulin reduces fertility! Honey, on the other hand, is made up of 52% glucose and 48% fructose. The glucose is released immediately, giving you a burst of instant energy, while the fructose is released more slowly and provides you with sustained energy. Besides that, honey contains antioxidants and natural antibacterial properties that will improve your immune and digestive systems.
  • Sniff that citrus! Research has shown that citrus scents such as those from lemons and oranges boost your serotonin and norepinephrine levels, alleviate stress, as well as increase your feelings of well being. Citrus scents can help to keep your mood stabilized, which will help to overcome stress.
  • Incorporate dairy foods into your diet. Milk and other dairy products contain L-Tryptophan, which converts in your body to serotonin. Serotonin has a natural calming and relaxing effect, which of course helps to reduce stress and soothe frazzled nerves! Serotonin can also be found in whey protein, lean meat and eggs.
  • Green leafy vegetables that help to detoxify your liver can also help to reduce stress simply because someone who is enjoying vibrant good health is naturally happier and less stressed than someone who is not in good health. Foods such as spinach, broccoli, collards, kale and other nutritious greens are good for you and great for keeping your body in the optimal health needed to combat stress.

Infertility can certainly be an extremely stressful thing to deal with, and you should make sure to do all you can to ease that stress in a natural, healthy way!
